The Games You Want to Play…Lords of Waterdeep
Lords of Waterdeep – 2 to 5 Players
Chuck, Doug, Scott G., and Tim were the Lords competing to dominate the City of Waterdeep – dispatching adventurers on Quests and building structures to attract more adventurers to the city. At the beginning of each game, the players draw a Lord of Waterdeep card and keep it secret. This card gives them bonuses based on the types of Quests they complete. The other ways to score are completing Quests (the main way of scoring, these are completed through using various combinations of Adventurers and coin; “Plot” Quests can also provide bonuses), coins held at the end of the game, and Adventurers still in your tavern.
The Lords have a number of actions they can take each turn: building structures, drawing / re-mixing Quests, drawing or playing Intrigue cards (these can let you mess with other players by forcing them to complete low-value quests for the benefit of the city or take unique actions), recruiting Adventurers, and collecting coins. Also, they can complete one Quest each turn.
The first game was dominated by Chuck with a score of 141 (Quests: 113; Lord of Waterdeep Bonus: 24; Coins: 1; Adventurers: 3)! Tim finished in 2nd with 120 (Q: 99; LoW: 16; C: 3; A: 2). Doug and Scott tied for 3rd – not last – place at 117. Scott’s score broke down as Q: 99; LoW: 12; C: 5; A: 1 and Doug’s as Q: 102; LoW: 12; C: 0 A: 3.
The second game went to Scott with a score of 116 (Q: 86; LoW: 24; C: 1; A: 5). Doug finished in 2nd at 114 (Q: 89; LoW: 16; C: 2; A: 7). Tim was 3rd with 108 (Q: 84; LoW: 24; C: 2; A: 1) and Chuck was 4th with 100 (Q: 74; LoW: 16; C: 1; A: 9).
